Missed last week's Illustration Friday because of a hectic schedule, and risked missing this week too. But then I realized I have an old illustration that featured bugs, so I'm recycling it. The title is "Did Katy?" Thanks for stopping by my blog!

A favorite style of music and dance.

I've had a lot of friends in my life, but she was the one that taught me the importance of letting go. She was always happy and uncomplicated. Her desires were few and her pleasures simple. She chased away troubles and scattered joy and laughter in her wake til her last day on earth. A simple Illustration style suits her best, I think. A quick 15 minutes in Photoshop.

Chairs have so much personality. I think one's favorite chair says so much about that person. I don't have a favorite chair, but if I had this chair, it would be my favorite. I need a chair just like this to curl up in while watching old horror films and reading murder mystery novels. The kind of chair that matches nothing, looks hideous and out of place, raises the eyebrows of neighbors, and makes mothers cringe. Green is okay, but it might even look better in fuchsia.

I've decided to depict a make-believe screen goddess as my illustration of glamour. She isn't anyone in particular, but I am a fan of old Hollywood, so there's probably a bit of Hepburn, Bacall, Lake, Oberon, and others in her. She looks a bit sad because reality exists behind the facade. This may sound a bit cynical, but to me, glamour isn't real. It exists the world of make-believe. A world of protocol, perfect lighting, high fashion, cosmetic artists, extravagance, abundance. An exclusive and elaborate creation reserved for a select few. The beautiful. The rich. The well-bred. The lucky. But what makes glamour appealing is it's ability to inspire dreams and possibilities in all of us. Knowing that it's all a fantasy makes it that much more accessible to me. And in that ironic way, more real.

I may call myself a dog person, but I have fond memories of growing up with cats. Cats will always fascinate me and catch my eye. Digital illustration. Approx 2.5 hrs in Photoshop.

"E IS FOR..."

It's been in the news a bit lately, but no matter which side you're on, mixing religion and politics is rarely humorous.
